Gudda Gudda Co-Signs Kidd Kidd's New Orleans Grind Tales, "He Wasn't Lying"

After recently speaking to Kidd Kidd about what it takes to make it in New Orleans, SOHH hit up Young Money's Gudda Gudda to get his opinion on the rapper's tales of grinding to success.
Agreeing with Kidd Kidd's points, Gudda explained the difference between grinding in New Orleans as opposed to big cities like New York and Los Angeles.
"Yeah, it is [a struggle] and a lot different," Gudda Gudda told SOHH about artists on the come-up in New Orleans. "First of all, New Orleans has to believe you. Whatever you're talking about, they have to believe you otherwise no one is going to accept you. You can't really just be rapping about a whole bunch of stuff and you ain't walking it. They gotta believe what you're saying or they will not support you. That's how it's been these past few years because I've been down there and I'm from there and I've seen other artists try but it doesn't pop. If they don't believe you, they're not buying into your music. Period." (SOHH)
He also agreed with Kidd Kidd's New Orleans newcomers tips of branching outside of the city to create a buzz.
"Speaking of Kidd Kidd, we were in a group together called Sqad Up back in the day, when we were doing our independent thing. When we put out our mixtapes, we would go out on the road a lot and that's how we got our name out there, by doing a gang of shows," Gudda added. "We would go around cities and put our name out there. Kidd Kidd wasn't lying either, you definitely have to get out of the city to get your music heard on a national basis. If you're a brand new artist, you have to get out there on the road and get on your grind. Get out there and let people hear your music." (SOHH)
Last month, Kidd Kidd hit up SOHH to speak on getting his music heard nationwide.
"There ain't nothing down here. You already know that if you want to make it out of New Orleans, you have to be out somewhere in New York. You gotta be in Atlanta. You gotta be in Los Angeles. Something like that in order to be discovered. That's how you're going to get people to hear you. Nine times out of ten, the people out there in the record labels are scared to come down here. It's wild down here. I was really blessed to even get out of the city for a minute and feed these people. We got a lot of talent out here but we're stuck down here. We're stuck. A lot of people don't have the opportunity to get it out of the city and show off their talent. So we're displaying our talent in the city but nobody is coming out and checking for us." (SOHH Guest Star)
Around mid-June, Kidd Kidd made headlines for surviving multiple gun shot wounds.
"wuzzam man thank yall for keepin me in yall prayers n*gga hit me six times but dey aint stoppin nutin b*tch a** n*gga get ur refund I aint dead," Kidd Kidd tweeted Sunday (June 12). (Kidd Kidd's Twitter)

Missy Elliott Breaks Silence On Music Hiatus, "I Couldn't [Even] Write"

Female rapper Missy Elliott finally explains her hiatus from the music spotlight in an upcoming episode of VH1's "Behind the Music" and reveals her struggle with health problems.
On the episode, Missy also opens up about sexual abuse as a child.
According to Brad Abramson, executive producer for Missy's VH1 Behind the Music (premiering June 29) the visionary suffered from painful health problems. "Missy was great and very candid. She talked for the first time about her [near fatal bout with] Graves disease, which she's been battling for the last few years, and spoke in detail about the sexual abuse she experienced as a child." Missy opened up about her fight with the autoimmune disease even more saying: "You live with it the rest of your life. I couldn't write because my nervous system was so bad. I couldn't even use a pen." (VIBE)
Graves disease is associated with the body's metabolism function.
Graves disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to overactivity of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism). The thyroid gland is an important organ of the endocrine system. It is located in the front of the neck just below the voice box. This gland releases the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which control body metabolism. Controlling metabolism is critical for regulating mood, weight, and mental and physical energy levels. (NCBI)
In April, rapper Da Brat said Missy is looking to possibly retire from album-making.
"I was hoping for a 'Ladies Night' reunion. I spoke to Missy and she down for it. She want to do a song because she said this could possibly be her last album," Da Brat said. "I'm definitely coming back out ASAP." (Sister 2 Sister Magazine)
Last fall, Missy explained her preference to work behind the scenes with artists like R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan.
"People always be like, 'Where [you] been?' but you gotta remember, I got Jazmine Sullivan out there, I had Monica 'Everything [To Me']," Missy explained in an interview. "I'm always having artists that I'm doing records on so I'm just behind the scenes right now. I did the artist thing, now I'm just writing and producing...It's been a long time coming but she gon' be around for a long time. She's gon' make people have to step up they singing...Jazmine sing from the soul. She sing from a different place. She's not just a singer, she sings from a place where you feel like she been through those things before. And she got a husky voice and we haven't heard that really in R&B in a long time so she [has] a unique voice." (MTV)
VH1's "Behind the Music" premieres June 29th.

Lil Wayne Covers XXL’s July/August Issue, Says He’s Retiring

Wayne covers the July/August issue of XXL and announces in the cover story that he plans on retiring soon, maybe even after Carter IV drops.
“I’m bowing out still on top,” he says. “I’ma make y’all want me when I retire. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘Nooo!’ I ain’t leaving out this bitch when y’all be like, ‘Yeah, it’s about time, dawg.’ Carter IV might be my last one. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘Fuck!’ Yeah, nigga, I’m gone.”
Wayne saying being a good father to his children would be the cause for an retirement. “Honestly, this is the real truth,” he says. “I honestly think it’s unfair to my kids. I’m super dedicated into what I do. Like, it’s no questions—it’s hands down, I do this. I live this. I don’t have a day out my week that I do something else. I do this every day of my life, and I’m not about to stop, ’cause that’s the only way you can succeed in this business, is to do it the way I do it. I want to succeed the way I want to succeed. You can succeed. You can put out a hit… But to do it the way I want to do it, to be comfortable to do what the fuck I want to do, you’ve got to work like no other. Like I said, it’s unfair to my kids. So about 30, 31, 32, I gotta get ready.
To which I say: bullshit. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that he’s not going anywhere, not for any significant amount of time anyway.

SUPERHEAD SAYS SHE'S NOT A LIAR!

Yoooooooo! A few weeks ago Superhead said that she was lying about her book, but she's recanted to my gal Necole Bitchie. Peep what she said to Necole Bitchie.com:

You recently released a video admitting that your book was a lie

I never said that and the fact that people would hear that proves to me, further, that there is a particular portion of the population that’s dumb as f*ck. It even said it on the screen, “The vixen does not exist.” The words are there, I don’t know how else am I suppose to do it, but that’s not what I said.
That statement pertains to the persona and I think it’s important, now that this is my last book, for people to start to differentiate between the persona and the person. Because this is my last book, I don’t feel the need to put on anymore because I don’t have to sell anything anymore. I don’t f*cking have to. A lot of what people saw in the last five, six years was planted. Even the gossip, it was all on purpose and I want people to know that. All of these things were on purpose and nothing was an accident. That was the vixen having to sell a brand and this is the end of that brand so I don’t have to sell that brand and I’m tired of that brand. I’m done, that sh*t is a wrap; I’ve juiced the vixen and I can’t juice her, anymore.
“Confessions” was printed by Harper Collins and Harper Collins being under the News Corp. umbrella, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, [and is ] the largest publishing company in the world. I would’ve been sued if anything I said was painted as the truth but not, actually, true. Because it’s the largest publisher in the world all my books are vetted by attorneys, anyway, but it’s my fault for expecting people to be smart enough to know that.
Most people work a nine to five and don’t get into actual business and how things work. They’re like rats in a maze and they’ll get on the freeway every morning, at the same time. They’re like droids in a world where bigger things are happening around them that they know nothing about. So it’s my fault for thinking that people are really intelligent enough to understand what I was saying I guess. It’s a superhero that puts on an outfit and comes out and does degrading obnoxious things, and says horrible things. I love to shock people and I love to watch people spin. I love to start rumors that are about me. Some of the biggest rumors about me have been planted on purpose.

What happens to the girl that looks up to that persona. For instance Kat Stacks?

Who? I do not know who that person is, honey. I get my news from CNN and unless she was on CNN or Oprah I do not know who that is.

Okay, for ANY girl that looked up to that persona?

She should never have, this is ridiculous. If anyone looks up to me you have to look up to my business model and that’s what you’re looking up to at this point. Everything was planned and plotted. Everything was a part of my five-year plan, now I have a new five-year plan.  Everything I did….none of it was an accident and I didn’t write the book, first. Harper Collins came to me and asked me to write that book –– so it was a request.
