VH1: Planet Rock “The Story Of Hip Hop & The Crack Generation”
VH1 aired a two-hour documentary last night about the rise of crack and hip-hop in the mid-80s and early 90s. The film was narrated by Ice-T and featured accounts from RZA, Raekwon, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, and B-Real. Bonus clips can be found on VH1′s site.
Mobb Deep Dropping EP On Black Friday
While we wait for M-O-B-B’s next album, Havoc and Prodigy tell XXL, that we should expect an EP to drop on the busiest shopping day of the year: November 25. Mark your calendars, duns.
“We have an EP coming on Black Friday,” Havoc said, referring to November 25, the beginning of the holiday shopping season. “We didn’t come up with a title yet, but we’ll have a title that will mean something. It will be like seven or eight songs. I did like three. We have some produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Alchemist and this kid named Young Free.”

Is that drug hangover why you disappeared after you released your second album?
I wanted to clear my head, besides detox. I had to look at the root of the whole problem, and that was work and the business.
How so?
I wasn’t trying to hear it from nobody. I’m not even going to attack the people in my life that didn’t step in and try to stop it, ’cause I was just so bullheaded. There’s no way to slow somebody when they’re speeding down a path of destruction.
I thought I was dealing with it in the proper way. I was in the moment. And when you’re that young, with that opportunity, all that money, and all that respect and power, sometimes you run with it. ’Cause I was like, “Man, you don’t know if this shit’s gon’ be here tomorrow.”

R Kelly sees chris brown trey songz as potential successors
R. Kelly made a rare appearance during the close of New York Fashion Week. Kellz suited up and had the well-dressed crowd sweating to his R&B jams during ARISE Magazine’s Made in Africa fashion show after-party at the Jumeirah Essex House in New York City.
“All I can say is R muthercking Kelly. If you weren’t at the Essex house for the Arise Mag party, you missed a legendary affair,” tweeted DJ Cassidy. “When R Kelly joined me on stage and we ran through classics, people didn’t know what to do with themselves.”
The R&B veteran, who just announced the title of his next album Black Panties, is not slowing down anytime soon. But when asked who he sees as potential heirs to his musical throne, he named Trey Songz and Chris Brown.
While he and Trey may have had their differences in the past, Kellz still gave the “Bottoms Up” singer props. “Trey Songz is a guy that if he keeps with the hits and he humbles himself a little more, he will definitely be one of the runner-ups,” he told WGCI Chicago’s “Tony Sculfield & The Morning Riot.”
He had more flattering words to say about Breezy, who he took under his wing when he was a teen. “Chris Brown is already there,” he said. “He’s a humble guy. I got the utmost respect for Chris Brown. My hat goes off to him because he got in the studio, he did what he was supposed to do, and he bounced back like round ball.”

Floyd Mayweather walked in the ring with 50 Cent and they both walked out richer. The rap mogul was by the undefeated champ’s side as he knocked out Victor Ortiz in the controversial WBC Welterweight fight in Las Vegas last night.

Mayweather, who made at least $25 million off the win, gave his friend a shiny new Hublot watch as a gift. “Look what my boy @FloydMayweather got for me. Cool its called king power SK,” he wrote.

Following her appearance at New York Fashion Week, Beyoncé traveled across the pond to debut the House of Deréon Autumn/Winter “Global Nomad” collection at Selfridges during London Fashion Week on Saturday. Ludacris has won Grammys, starred in an Oscar-winning film, and now he can add another accomplishment to his list. The “How Low” hitmaker climbed the historic Great Wall of China during his recent trip to Beijing and Shanghai.

The teen sensation, nicknamed Jellybean by Smith, also picked up the Horizon Award in recognition of his achievements.
