The throne receives platinum plaques

It only took a month for The Throne’s album to move a million units. During their tour stop at The Garden last night, they both received their rewards backstage. Yup, it’s plaques on plaques on plaques.

Will ferrell on n&@ga in Paris cameo

The Throne’s “Niggas In Paris” sure gets the people going. As we all know, the track features a sample from actor Will Ferrell’s 2007 film Blades Of Glory. In an interview with MTV, Will was flattered by his appearance on the track.

Kanye reached out to me and I said, ‘Of course’ I was completely flattered when they asked if they could sample me into the song … and when I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal. But I really did like the song.

We were trying to film a piece that they would use on the video boards of their concert, but haven’t gotten it together — and the whole process has opened his eyes to an entirely new career opportunity: Being the go-to sample guy on the hip hop circuit. I think [something from] ‘Step Brothers’ would be good [to use in a song]. Or the Woody Allen movie I did, ‘Melinda and Melinda.’

Wale hits high in billboards

Back in 2009, Wale’s debut album, Attention Deficit only moved 28k its first week. Fast forward two years later, and his sophomore set Ambition moved 164,062 units landing him the number two spot on Billboard. DMV we outchea!

Jayz speeds threw dead presidents

After the show, it’s the after party? Nope, it’s overtime. The Throne had 10 minutes to spare before the Madison Square kicked in their overage fee last night, so Jay and Kanye performed some of their fan favorites like “Blow The Whistle”, “Lucifer”, “Get Em High”, and a 16 second speed through of “Dead Presidents” . Classic shit, ya feel me?!

R.i.p heavy D

Rap legend Heavy D — one of the most influential rappers of the ’90s — died earlier today … TMZ has learned.

Heavy D — real name Dwight Arrington Myers — was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today … and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old.

We’ve learned a 911 call was placed from Heavy’s Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway .

When help arrived, we’re told Heavy D was conscious and speaking — and was transported to a nearby hospital.

He died a short time later.

Cops are investigating the death — and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play.

UPDATE I:

Heavy D died less than 24 hours after tweeting his condolences to legendary boxer Joe Frazier who died Monday, Nov. 7 of cancer. Heavy D’s final tweet was “BE INSPIRED!”

French Montana Makes NY Post Page Six

French Montana’s officially the hottest N-word in the Hood. Over the weekend, Hot 97′s Angie Martinez snapped him and Kanye West backstage at the Watch The Throne concert in New Jersey. For weeks, rumors have swirled that he was signing to Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music label. Evidently, the courtship caught the New York Post’s attention and documented it today in their famed Page Six column.
It seems Kanye West hasn’t given up on signing “Shot Caller” rapper French Montana to his Def Jam label “G.O.O.D.” Sources at Jay-Z and West’s “Watch the Throne” concert at New Jersey’s Izod Center Saturday say West was “all over” Montana backstage. Since Montana left Akon’s Konvict Muzik, he’s been flirting with West and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. Montana tweeted a photo with West backstage hinting that he’d signed with him. West was later spotted at the Darby Downstairs sitting near the DJ booth where Mick Boogie was spinning.
