Uncle Luke Threatens To Revoke Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled’s Miami Residency
Lil Wayne And DJ Khaled Are Gonna Lose Their Miami Residency

Uncle Luke has had enough and is putting his foot down when it comes to out-of-town rappers taking residence in Miami and not contributing to the community.

Luther Campbell, once member of the 2 Live Crew and former Miami mayoral candidate is threatening Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Diddy and any other rapper that lives in Miami, Florida but is not an active contributor to the city’s economy or residents.

Luke spoke to the Miami New Times and offered a January 1st deadline to these artists before they lose their access to go to clubs, ball games and touch Miami women.

“I’m tired of seeing these cats using up our beaches, soaking up our sunshine, taking over the nightclubs, and sleeping with our women without investing anything into the community. I want to know when Lil Wayne is going to do more than show up courtside at the American Airlines Arena,” Campbell said.

Luke isn’t just salty about them taking up space, he wants them to give back.

“Just cause Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled are from New Orleans doesn’t mean they don’t have to be a part of the community. They’re getting rich under fun and sun.

They rap in their songs about King of Diamonds and LIV nightclub, where Lil Wayne was partying it up with Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks after they beat the Miami Heat for the NBA championship.”

“I want to see them doing fundraisers to help youth sports and after school programs. I want to see them at FCAT rallies. I want to see them do like Pitbull who works closely with the Kiwanis Club in Little Havana and DJ Irie who puts on a charity weekend for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”

Does Luke have a point? And how will he enforce the threat after the deadline if they don’t contribute?

Kenny burns talks compound

Atlanta radio personality Kenny Burns spoke with MTV today to give his side of the incident that took place at Compound this past weekend in Atlanta. He says that Diddy was not directing his anger at him, but to another patron.

I had a front row seat that night and Kenny’s right. There was someone else in their section taunting Diddy with a bottle of Grey Goose. Not to say Puff wasn’t wrong for his behavior, but that’s the truth, Ruth.

50 cent playground book introduction

The folks over at E Dub bullied their way to get their hands on the first three chapters of Curtis’ publication, Playground. The book doesn’t hit shelves until November 1, but check out the introduction below.

I’ll be the first to admit that not everything I’ve done in my life has been role-model material. I’ve been on the wrong side of the law. I’ve been in violent situations. I’ve also been a bully. I know how a person gets to be like that. That’s why I wanted to tell this story: to show a kid who has become a bully—how and why that happened, and whether or not he can move past it. Writing Playground was a personal journey for me. There’s a lot of me in Butterball. I drew on events that happened in my childhood and adolescence as well as things I saw around me. I also tapped into some of the feelings I remember having at that age—feelings aboutmy family, feelings about my future, feelings about other kids on the playground. Living life on the edge has taught me a lot, like the fact that being mentally strong will get you ahead in life. But being a bully won’t get you anywhere. Some kids don’t figure that out until it’s too late. Does Butterball? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

Jayz breaks silence about lil Wayne diss

Jay-Z has finally broken his silence on the back and forth subliminal lyrical jabs between Lil Wayne and himself. MTV caught up with Jigga man at the Shawn Carter Foundation’s Making the Ordinary Extraordinary carnival last Thursday and like he always downplays, here’s what he had to simply say:

“That’s sport, that’s rap music. Nothing is going to change but the participants. I don’t even see why that’s news.”

Jayz is releasing decoded

Just one year after Jay-Z’s Decoded hit bookshelves, the New York Times bestselling book will be re-released on November 1. Featured in a new expanded paperback edition, the re-release will contain a new chapter, seven additional illustrations, three decoded songs: “I Know”, “Young Gz”, “Lost One” and a new afterword.

What still excites me about rap is that it’s an open thread, a cipher that listeners find their own meanings in. The point of this book is not to settle arguments or transform rap songs into neat stories with a beginning, middle, and end. Rather, I’m trying to point readers to some ideas and information, get them to see deeper into the music than they saw before and learn more about worlds different from their own (or find new ways of looking at the worlds they already know)—to find their own meanings and connect them back to their own lives. I want readers to see the craft and learn the context—and I want them to still be able to feel the magic, and enjoy the show. —JAY-Z, from the new Afterword
